My Recount about the Selwyn year 9 Camp

The Selwyn Camp 2014

OMG! I was so excited on the day the year 9s were gonna go camping, I didn't want to have my morning meal, but I had to so I quickly munched away my breakfast. I obviously packed my needs on Tuesday night because the next day I was gonna leave for 2 nights and 3 days.

Finally my group and I the lovely Pitau hopped in the bus, and were ready to zoom away to our camping destination. It took 1 hour and so to get there, on the way I ate the most scrumptious muffin bakes ever, even though we weren't allowed to eat.

Because it took along time to get there I kept saying to myself 3 years later, 5,000 years later, and I just kept saying those things in my head till we got there. At last we have reached our destination.  Because I sat down for a long time my legs didn't even feel like getting up.

But anyway, as I was saying the brave Pitau jumped out of the bus and shifted their bags on the deck near the kitchen, we had a short and boring talk and then finally headed of to our first activity. And Pitau’s first game was Archery which I hated and I didn't enjoy it either, because I didn't know how to shoot the arrow.

But as always we completed our first mission and headed off for a short break a really short one, sooner or later we raced over to the mountain biking, I didn't like that either because I couldn't ride the bikes and I just had to sit under a tree that actually gave me a lot of shade to be honest.

I spent half an hour by myself under a tree with the bikes, so far the camp  was kinda  boring.  But then we headed off to the low ropes, and the trust fall, my favourite activity was the trust fall when we had to trust our group to catch us when we fall back. I didn't quite like the low ropes because if one of us fell then the whole group had to start from the beginning.

We had finished our 1st day of camp and waiting for our second, Pitau
and Mangopare slept outside in tents in the first night except from me because I didn’t like sleeping outside and I kept thinking that wild animals would come and harm us.  Fortunately I at least had dinner and had the fun with them, and then walked down to the cabinets and slept with the Rautawa girls.
The first night I was depressed because I missed my family and it was really dark, but the second night it was not to bad and not so good.  At last I could hear the annoying Cicadas sing, when they were singing it sounded like it was raining and every morning I woke up with a frown.  Anyway as I was saying, every morning we had to wake up by 7 o'clock and get ourselves ready for the next activity in one minute, seriously? Can you believe that?

On the second day of the year nine camp, my house group and I began kayaking and raft building, I mostly enjoyed kayaking because I got a ride with Ms Miller, because  I couldn't control my own kayak so I got a free ride with Ms. During kayaking we played a game that involved ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS.  We first had to play ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS  with a partner and who ever won had to stand with their knees bent down then they had to do it again and if the same person won then they had to stand up with their legs straight and had to stay like that till they fall of their kayak.

I did this with Ms Miller and suddenly ended up standing on Ms Miller’s toes and when she was helping another student to get back on their kayak, our kayak all of a sudden just tipped over, Mrs Miller and I were soaked wet.
[We didn't’t see that coming,] so my time of fun ended there for the day, we played other games too but I don’t want to explain how it went. I quickly slipped my dry clothes on and was ready for raft building, [well not really]. I actually just stood there like I was the QUEEN, and yelling hurry up to my mates, that wasn't’ very nice of me I know but lets just pretend it never happened.

And because I didn't help making the raft, our one sank just the people were floating. Because it was so heavy we couldn't move it we needed like over 5 people to help us bring it back to land. So our day finished there we spent 1 whole sunny day at the beach, who cares, at least we had fun and I was really tired also lazy to go for the next activity.

Pitau and the other house groups walked or drove back to the camping area.  As always we had dinner, and then practised our chant.  This is how our chant goes: PITAU R U READY READY?!!  YES WE R READY READY,!! WAT TIME IS IT?!! ITS TIME TO WIN!! GOOO PITAU!!
After that we had to go to our cabinets and go to bed obviously because the next day was our last day of camp HOORAY, the next morning we woke up as usual and went for a walk to the beach while waiting for breakfast.

During the walk, O MG my legs didn't even want to say hello to the ground because I was so tired, Mangopare and Pitau strolled to the beach and just sat there for 15 or more minutes and walked back to the camping area. On the way back I was so exhausted and hungry, so hungry that my tummy growled, I really felt sorry for my self.  After we had our breakfast we shifted our bags from the garage to the deck near the kitchen as we did when we arrived.  Any ways later we raced off to the mountain biking area and did our house competitions we chose two people from our group for each activity,  next we sang our house chant, and for that we the lovely pitau came second.  Afterwards we walked to the beach again and waited there, had lunch and hopped in the buses our bags were in, and  safely returned home . . . . . And that was our Year nine Selwyn camp. :]
