Mahdia Conflict Information Report
World War 1
Not many people know that in 1914 a Serbian man named Gavrilo Princip shot the Austrian Franz Ferdinand and his wife, When the small countries were defeated and were made to give back the lands they took, they promised to follow the rules as the allied forces did , Germany promised to back them up, they declared war on serbia,a war is when 2 people or 2 groups of people starts to become enemies and get in a conflict, they also use weapons to try to injure each other.
Did you know that Great Britain was helping Austria to defeat Serbia, the Austrians were mad at the death of the man who would have been their next king. The European countries was excepting war, so that different countries had already agreed to cooperate and support each other. As strange as it may seem 65 million soldiers had to fight in the war, sadly 8.5 million died, and 21 million was injured, and the people who didn't become a soldier had to lose the ones that they loved, they had to lose their house and poverty and became ill and hungry. The families life changed effectively as everyone lived in fear of what happened next. America used shotguns during the war, Mustard gas was the most famous weapons in use by the Germans. Not many people know that the soldiers wore masks to protect them from the horrible new gas called poison gas, and that poison gas caused blind and death by choking. When the Americans used shotguns the Germans said that shotguns are banned because most Germans got injured really badly, [but the Americans meant to kill them]. In the war they used submarines, mines and other sorts of guns. They used battleships, cruisers, dreadnoughts, mines and destroyers.
In January the Paris Peace session began, leaders from all the countries that had been in the war, were
there. One of the nations was to try to stop another war happening by acting as peacemaker and talking about any problems. The treaty of Versailles was peace treaty that is signed between leaders of Germany
and the leaders of the allied places. German chiefs had lost lots of powers and did not agree to everything
because they had thought there were too many strict rules so some changes had to be made. so everyone agreed to changes and on June 28 1919 the treaty was signed. The peace was formally declared and everyone felt safe again.
Did you know that after the war the land became peace, they all agreed to the new rules and on june 28, 1919 peace was formally declared and everyone started to feel safe again. But there were so many things destroyed also the family of these brave soldiers had no dad and the mother had to do all of the jobs, but they were also very proud and we wear red poppies to remember them on ANZAC.
65 million soldiers had to fight, 8.5 million died and 21 million was injured really badly, and to those who didn’t become a soldier, had lost their family and became ill and hungry.

Eastern Beach Recount
Eastern Beach Recount
It was a grey morning, it looked like I woke up early and the seagulls was screaming at each other, my slow eater brother and I had to skedaddle to school because my brother eats so slow It was 8.25 and I thought we were going to be late so I walked up stairs and down until my brother finally finish drinking his milo, On the way people to school In the car I kept watching the clock When we hopped out of the car I ran and ran as fast as I could when I arrived in class guess what I saw, I saw a few people in the room and some other people were outside playing, so much for running and saying hurry up!
When the second bell rang I saw parents and little kids sitting on the bench and all the students that were part of Panmure Bridge School had to go in class and wait for their teachers to say the roll. When when they finished saying the roll everyone pushed in line and headed to the bus. After a while we arrived at the beach and we all ran out of the bus. A few people were stretching and yawning, Ms Kirkpatrick and Mr Johnston were already there in their swimming suits. We sat down in our classes and listened to Mr Johnston tell us the rules so we would not hurt ourselves.
As soon as Mr Johnston finished his short speech, we all jumped up and hopped away to rest our bottoms on the green and yellow grass. I gobbled my scrumptious morning tea and quickly got changed because I was in the second kayaking group and I had to be ready as soon as the first group had finished.
After all that excitement about going on the kayaks I kept squashing my little thumb. Oh my gosh Ms Kirkpatrick expected us to walk on the kayaks too! When I saw them, in my mind I mumbled, trying to say “Phew!’’ At least that is not me grumbling and going across, but we had to hold each others ropes so our kayaks made a straight line to walk over.
Finally Tienira and I made it to the finish line. On the way back to shore I thought about how we learnt how to paddle backwards and forwards, play of tiggy and walk across the row of boats.
When we finished we had a chance to dip ourselves in the cold sea. It was freezing but the other
kids seemed warm and cosy in the H2O. Well, I was freezing so I quickly returned to the sand. On the way to the girls dressing I almost tripped and, the cheeky piece of the tree was in my way, really embarrassing
and when I got back I found heaps of sand on my towel. Samira, Asmah, Zeba and I had
our meal. I was first to finish eating but then I had to sip my lovely medication [not]. It took me along time just to finish drinking that horrible medicine, really to tell the truth, I was just chit chatting along.
At last I was free to have fun. We played Dodge ball but there was no place to run or hide well. There was places to hide but not run, so I had to jump and I almost fell onto a humongous bag that apparently belonged to a teacher that needed everything!
I was truly tired and when I heard it was time to go back to school. I stomped and moaned but that didn’t mean that I was furious.
On the way back all I did was sit and frown. When we arrived at school we waited till the school bell rang then I ran home.
